[Obituary] Prof. Em. H. Masuda

Professor Emeritus Hiroaki Masuda passed away on the 10th of November in 2022. He was 79 years old.

He was appointed assistant professor of the Department in 1973, moved to Hiroshima University as associate professor in 1979, was promoted to a full professor at Hiroshima University in 1986, and arrived back in the Department as a full professor in 1989.

He also served as the president of the Society of Powder Technology, Japan and the president of the Association of Powder Industry and Engineering, Japan, and others. He has been awarded the METI Award, the SCEJ Award for Outstanding Research Achievement, the Achievement Award of the Institute of Electrostatics in Japan, the Technology Award of the Association of Powder Industry and Engineering, Japan，the KONA Award, and others.

Professor Masuda retired from Kyoto University in 2007. He was entitled Professor Emeritus of Kyoto University on his retirement.
