[Obituary] Prof. Em. M. Harada

Professor Emeritus Makoto Harada passed away at 5:33 am on the 20th of May in 2020. He was 84 years old.

Professor Harada served to the Institute of Atomic Energy, Kyoto University since 1982 until 1996 and then to the Institute of Advanced Energy until 1999. During these periods, he also educated undergraduate and graduate students at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Kyoto University.  He was entitled Professor Emeritus of Kyoto University on his retirement in 1999. After the retirement from Kyoto University, he worked for Doshisha University from 2004 through 2006.

He also contributed to the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan as Director from 1991 to 1992.  He received the 1997 Society Award from the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan.  In 2016, he was decorated with the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon by the Japanese government.
